African STARS Fellowship Program: Interview with Prof. Tulio de Oliveira

We are pleased to share an insightful interview with Prof. Tulio de Oliveira, director of the Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation (CERI) at Stellenbosch University, discussing the recently launched African STARS Fellowship Program. This initiative, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, aims to enhance scientific training in Africa by offering structured programs, up to two years of training, and fostering collaborations with major industries and biotechnology innovation hubs. The ultimate goal is to create jobs that retain and attract talented scientists to the continent.​

  • Professional Background: Candidates should be working in a scientific organization in Africa or intend to be based in Africa.​
