Une nouvelle étude a développé un protocole de séquençage utilisant la technologie Oxford Nanopore (ONT), répondant aux limitations critiques des méthodes de diagnostic actuelles pour le virus de l'hépatite B (VHB). L'infection chronique par le VHB reste un problème de santé publique majeur, en particulier en Afrique, où le fardeau est considérable. Le VHB est classé en dix génotypes distincts sur le plan phylogénétique (A–J), et les tests diagnostiques existants ne parviennent souvent pas à fournir des informations génétiques complètes.
