We are pleased to share an introductory video of the Programa de Bolsas African Stars, presented by Prof. Tulio de Oliveira, director of the Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation (CERI) at Stellenbosch University. This groundbreaking initiative, launched with an award of US$9 million from the Mastercard Foundation, aims to equip African scientists with the skills necessary to respond to epidemics and pandemics. The programme focuses on enhancing expertise in genomics, diagnostics, and vaccine development, with the first phase set to support 131 fellows between 2025 and 2027.
